Surface-mount infrared receivers have industry’s best sensitivity-to-size ratio

With a 3.0mm profile and typical irradiance of 0.15mW/m2, Vishay TSOP75xxx surface-mount infrared receivers for remote controls increase sensitivity over other miniature receivers.

Using Vishay’s two-lens concept, the TSOP75xxx series combines two photodiodes to achieve significantly higher light-gathering capability than other receivers with miniaturised lenses. This reduces the volume of the package by up to 66%, while at the same time increasing sensitivity and the receiving angle.

To further simplify design, each device also implements a pre-amplifier in the same package, and the lens has built-in filtering over a frequency range optimised to exclude emissions from plasma displays. Compatible with top- or side-view use, the devices are insensitive to supply voltage and noise and offer an improved immunity against ambient light.

Three families are available, all featuring Automatic Gain Control (AGC). The TSOP752xx is compatible with all common infrared-remote control data formats. The TSOP753xx and TSOP754xx suppress spurious pulses from energy-saving fluorescent lamps, including dimmed LCD backlights.

The TSOP753xx and TSOP754xx are compatible with short-burst or long-burst codes, respectively, as used by major equipment manufacturers.
