Demonstration board accelerates touch-based design
Demonstrating touch applications based
on Freescale MPR03x touch-sensor
controllers, the Freescale DEMOMPR031 is
a standalone board that allows a user to
touch two simple, clear buttons and view
the response indicated by on-board LEDs.
The MPR031 and MPR032 proximity capacitive
touch-sensor controllers are micro-DFN ICs that
simplify designing touch applications for
headsets, remote controls and other low-power
portable products. The devices provide an I2C
interface, and are able to manage two sensing
electrodes with interrupt functionality or three
electrodes if the interrupt is disabled. The
devices have a 2mm x 2mm footprint, operate
from 1.71V to 2.75V, and draw 8µA when
configured for 64ms response time monitoring
two electrodes.
The DEMOMPR031 board is delivered
complete with an MPR031EP controller IC, two
ITO touch buttons, two signal LEDs, an 8-bit
MCU, and a board-mounted power switch. The
MCU is programmed in Background Debug Mode
(BDM), and contacts for the BDM connector are
also provided. The board is powered
independently using a coin-cell battery.
