Thermal Package Unlocks Rectifier Performance Gains
Featuring a thermally-enhanced package,
Vishay PowerBridge™ rectifiers in
current ratings from 10A to 25A have
smaller outline and reduced heatsink
requirements compared to standard
devices.
The BU10xx, BU12xx,
BU15xx, BU20xx and
BU25xx series use the
22mm x 18.5mm x 4mm
BU package, which has
low thermal resistance
from junction to case.
Together with the
integrated, electrically-isolated
metallic heat
spreader, this package enhances cooling of
the die to allow continuous operation at
high ambient temperatures. At the same
time, the lead pitch and pin layout match
the conventional GBU package, thereby
allowing a wide range of bridge-rectifier
voltage and current ratings to share the
same PCB layout.
In total there are five current ratings, with
12A, 15A and 20A versions also available.
Devices in all current ratings can be
specified for 600V, 800V or 1000V maximum
reverse voltage, to satisfy diverse
requirements for applied voltage, desired
safety margin, and cost. These devices allow
engineers to optimise cost, size and
performance in rectifier-bridge circuits for
high-voltage power supplies, power inverters
and primary rectifiers.
