Ultra-Fast Recovery Performance Cuts Losses in 8A Diodes
Ultra-fast forward- and reverse-recovery
performance fromtheVishay UH8JT and
UHF8JT high-voltage diodes enhances
efficiency in a wide range of power-switching
and rectification circuits.
The diodes are rated for 8A forward current. By
achieving reverse-recovery time of 25ns and
forward-recovery time of 150ns, combined with
typical forward voltage drop of 1.47V at full rated
current, theyminimise losses in both conduction
and switchingmodes. As eco-design standards
such as the European EUP Directive evolve to
specifyminimumlevels of energy efficiency for
electronic products, the UH8JT and UHF8JT help
engineers tomeet these targets.
Combining high efficiency and high-current
capability, as well as 600V
maximumreverse voltage, they will be
used tominimise energy losses in rectifier
and freewheeling circuits as well as in
mandatory features such as power-factor
correction.
The reduction in energy loss also
results in lower heat dissipation, which
will simplify thermal design to enable
lower-cost,more compact and
lightweight products such as power
adapters, computing devices, and
telecomand networking equipment.
The UH8JT is delivered in the standard TO-220
package with cathode connected to the tab. The
UHF8JT in the ITO-220 package has the same
mechanical outline and features an insulated tab
for direct attachment to any heatsink.
