Low-Loss MOSFETs in Standard Packages Improve Cost, Size and Efficiency
International Rectifier has set a new
low benchmark for power-MOSFET
on-resistance in the TO-247 package,
with a family of five devices for high-current
challenges normally solved
using high-power packages such as
ISOTOP or mini BLOC.
With on-resistance as low as 1.7mΩ, and
current ratings from 130A to 195A, the new
IRFP4004PBF and IRFP4x68PBF MOSFETs can
replace alternatives in the larger and more
expensive high-power packages. Up to 50%
cost savings can be achieved, as well as a
reduction in overall size. In addition to
reducing heat dissipation, the lower losses of
these MOSFETs also enable improved system
efficiency.
Other benefits of this new technology
include improved gate, avalanche and
dynamic-dV/dt ruggedness, as well as
enhanced body-diode dV/dt and dI/dt
capability.
