Low-Cost PIC Development Tool Increases Performance, Powers the Target Directly
PICkit 3 Debug Express is the latest
version of Microchip’s low-cost
development tool for 8- and 16-bit PIC®
and dsPIC®MCUs, featuring the upgraded
PICkit 3 debugger/programmer as well as
a demo board populated with
a 44-pin PIC18F45K20MCU.
The debugger/programmer is
connected to the host PC using
a full-speed USB interface. When
connected to the target via the
6-pin ICSP connector common
to Microchip MPLAB tools, it also
powers the board directly
thereby saving an external
power supply.
The kit allows engineers to
debug designs with minimal
additional hardware required,
and also saves expensive sockets
or adapters. As well as
supporting design and development, the kit can be used to
programme or re-programme production
and post-production models.
Also included in PICkit 3 Debug Express
are the MPLAB® Integrated Development
Environment (IDE), and a version of the
MPLAB C Compiler for PIC18 MCUs. Both
are provided free of charge.
