8-bit MCU Minimises Power Consumption
The new MC9S08QB from Freescale
Semiconductor is a new entry-level 3V,
8-bit MCU with integrated features
designed to minimise power
consumption.
TheMCU offers sixmodes of operation, including WEB

low-power wait and low-power run. Extra energy
savings are achieved via a precision trimming
internal clock source with a 32kHz low-power
oscillator, and by a voltage regulator with a fast
6µS wake-up time.
Freescale’s new low-power MCU features
up to 8 kbyte of Flash programme memory
and up to 512 bytes of SRAM. A range of
serial communications controllers are integrated
along with an eight-channel ADC, a separate
analogue comparator, one two-channel 16-bit
timer, one 8-bit modulo timer and an eight-channel
keyboard interrupt controller. The MCU
parts are available in TSSOP-16, QFN-24 and
SOIC-28 packages, supporting up to 24 GPIOs.
