Processor Kit Empowers Multimedia Development

By integrating connectivity options and providing robust security, Freescale’s i.MX27multimedia applications processor supports engineers taskedwith pushing the performance ofmultimedia features inmobile device designs.

The i.MX27 is now supported by the i.MX27 Product Development Kit (PDK). The i.MX27 PDK, with Smart Speed™ technology, is a completely integrated hardware and software solution designed to simplify product development so that engineers can focus on critical product differentiation.

Derived from the popular i.MX21 processor and based on the ARM926EJ-S™ core, the i.MX27 processor features an H.264 D1 hardware codec for high-resolution video processing, an Ethernet 10/100 MAC, security functionality, plug-and-play connectivity and further power-management features. With this rich feature set, the 400MHz engine supports video over IP, voice over IP, intelligent remote controls, point-of-sale terminals and other wireless applications.

It is now possible to develop efficient and powerful multimedia systems in less time using the i.MX27 processor with the new i.MX27 PDK available through the Future Electronics Board Club.
