Regulator Employs Low-Voltage Feedback for Current Control
The NCP3066 is a monolithic
switching regulator
designed to power high-brightness
LEDs with a
constant-current source.
To regulate the average current
of an LED string, the device
uses a low feedback voltage of
just 235mV.
In addition, the NCP3066 has
a wide input-voltage range
from 3V up to 40V, allowing it
to operate from a 12V AC or a
12V DC to 36V DC supply.
These voltages are commonly
employed in lighting
applications as well as
unregulated supplies such as
rechargeable batteries.
The NCP3066 switching
regulator can be configured in
step-down (buck), step-up
(boost) and voltage-inverting
topologies with a minimum number of
external components. Additionally, an On/Off
pin provides PWM dimming and a low-power
shutdown mode.
