Automotive-Qualified LED Driver Integrates Temperature Compensation
The MLX10803 power-LED drivers
integrate high-temperature
compensation performance with
intelligent features, such as dimming
and soft light-level increase.
Melexis’ drivers deliver efficiencies of 70% for
single-LED applications and 95% for LED
arrays.
Including several reference inputs, the
MLX10803 is designed to allow temperature
compensation from external sensors in order
to guarantee a constant light level and to
protect the LED system against overheating.
These LED driver ICs are qualified according
to the automotive ISO/TS16949 standard,
ensuring robust reliability. The EMI
behaviour of the entire module is optimised
by randomising the switching frequency.
Other features include intrinsic load-dump
protection up to 80V and an operating
temperature range from -40°C to 125°C.
The MLX10803 operates normally from a
DC supply between 6V and 32V. A minimum
of external components can be added to
allow the IC to operate from 50Hz or 60Hz
AC supplies at voltages of 115V or 220V. With
appropriate external components, the
MLX10803 can efficiently drive numerous
high-intensity LEDs, ranging from 1W to 1kW.
