LED Drivers Support High-Brightness RGB Pixels
The CAT4103 and CAT4109 LED drivers
from ON Semiconductor operate at up
to 25V to support RGB-based pixels
with power levels in excess of 10W.
The CAT4103 and CAT4109 are 3-channel,
constant-current Low Dropout Drivers (LDD™),
providing high-brightness RGB LED pixel
control for high-visual impact architectural
lighting.
The CAT4103 is designed for multicolour,
intelligent LED-lighting applications. It
features a 25MHz serial
interface and offers
buffered data outputs to
ensure data integrity is
maintained over long-distance
distributed, daisychained
lighting systems.
The CAT4109 uses a
parallel interface and each
channel has a dedicated
PWM control. This suits
more conventional LED
visual effects, such as
colour mixing.
Both devices support a
wide range of constant-current
drive values, up to
175mA on each channel,
with dropout levels down
to 0.3V at 60 mA. This
ensures performance when
driving long strings of LEDs.
