CMOS Image Sensor Offers 13.2Gb/s Throughput

Cypress Semiconductor is introducing a CMOS image sensor with industry-leading data throughput of 13.2Gb/s.

The 3.0 megapixel LUPA-3000 sensor offers a triggered and pipelined synchronous shutter with a frame rate of 485 frames-per-second. An integrated windowing capability helps reduce image distortion and provides fast readout.

The sensor also features on-chip digital Low-Voltage Differential Signalling (LVDS) outputs that simplify the transport of sensor data and overall camera design for machine vision and holographic data-storage applications.

The LUPA-3000 features a fully-synchronous snapshot shutter, making it possible to read one image while the next is being acquired and to capture moving objects without distortion. The sensor has 32 8-bit digital LVDS outputs that allow image data to be transferred over long distances on the circuit board. It includes an array of 1696 x 1710 pixels with a 8µm x 8µm pixel size.
