Enhanced CAN Transceiver Offers 8kV ESD Performance
Designed for in-car low-speed
communication, the TJA1055
transceiver is an enhanced, pin-compatible
version of the TJA1054
and TJA1054A.
It offers the same CAN transceiver functionality
but introduces a number of improvements.
These include improved ESD performance,
lower current consumption in sleep mode,
wake-up signalling on RXD and ERR without
an active collector voltage (VCC), and
3V interfacing with
microcontrollers.
Supporting a baud rate of
up to 125kBd and connectivity for
up to 32 nodes with unshielded bus
wires, the TJA1055 provides a differential
receive and transmit capability but will
switch to single-wire transmitter and/or
receiver in error conditions.
A built-in slope-control function and
matching of the CANL and CANH bus
outputs enables very low electromagnetic
emission, and the TJA1055 also offers high
electromagnetic immunity in normal and in
low-power modes. A high level of ESD
robustness provides protection for off-board
pins at up to ±8kV for the Human Body
Model (HBM) and ±6kV for IEC 61000-4-2.
