Package Technology Creates Robust Integrated Light Sensors
SensorEyeC devices from Melexis
are integrated light sensors with a
photodiode, transimpedance amplifier,
output transistor and temperature
compensation in a single chip.
The SensorEyeC series is designed for AEC-Q100
Grade 1 automotive applications, using
patented package technology that enables
high robustness, including 260°C solder reflow,
with an undisturbed optical path.
The SensorEyeC series includes the
MLX75303, MLX75304 and MLX75305. The
MLX75303 is an easy-to-use Schmitt-trigger
output light sensor that can be used for
headlight control or contactless automotive
switches. The MLX75304 converts light intensity
into an output frequency, and features a highly linear
response over a dynamical light input
range of more than 100dB for applications such
as rear-view mirror dimming and LED-light
control. The MLX75305 converts light intensity
into an output voltage, and features high
linearity for ambient-light sensing.
All SensorEyeC components have a
continuous operation lifetime qualified to over
15 years. These are available in SOIC8 open-cavity
packages, as well as DFN packages,
which measure only 3mm x 3mm x 0.65mm,
with a temperature range
from -40°C to 125°C.
