Flexible audio codec integrates voice
support and I2S interface
Designers adding audio features
to mobile applications can use the
Realtek ALC5620 hi-fi codec, with
built-in independent voice DAC, to
save board space, reduce component
count, and minimise power
consumption.
The ALC5620 provides an interface that
can be configured for I2S or PCM to support
stereo and voice functions, and also has
a dual-channel ADC for recording via I2S.
To reduce component count the device
can connect directly to mono or stereo
differential analogue inputs, stereo
headphones, a 25mW single-ended output,
or a 75mW BTL mono output. In addition,
by including an integrated speaker driver
for applications up to 1W, the ALC5620 also
enables direct connection to a mono or
stereo BTL speaker.
Further features include
differential inputs and
outputs for high noise
immunity and optimal
sound quality, simple register
configuration to optimise
for an external Class-A/B or
Class-D amplifier, and a fiveband
equaliser implemented
in hardware and featuring
configurable gain, bandwidth
and centre frequency.
