Low-footprint, low-disruption current sensing
Zetex has introduced the ZXCT1080
current monitor to simplify high-side
current sensing in high-voltage
circuit-protection applications.
Key benefits of the ZXCT1080 include easier
circuit design and reduced component
count, made possible by an extended
common-mode sensing range of 3V to 60V
and an integrated gain-setting resistor. By
producing a voltage output, the ZXCT1080 is
easy to use and avoids disrupting the ground
plane when taking current
measurements.
As a further benefit, the low
typical quiescent current of
80µA not only reduces overall
power consumption but also
reduces measurement error
associated with input sense
current.
The ZXCT1080’s 4.5V to
12V supply voltage allows
close matching of its
ground-referenced output
voltage with ADCs and
microcontrollers, and is also
protected against harmful
over-voltage conditions.
